Leather, neon, and nostalgia. These are some of the common things associated with The 1975. Since their breakout in 2013, the pop rock band continues to ignite many feelings from their listeners. Their songs can make you feel attached from the get-go. That is why it is not surprising that most people receive them well.
The band's humble beginnings start in a British high school in 2002. Frontman Matthew Healy, with Adam Hann, Ross Macdonald, and George Daniel, started playing together by covering punk songs and playing at small venues. After some time, they began composing their own songs, which later served them well. After 10 years, they initiated recording their own songs. EPs after EPs, they finally released a self-titled album in 2013. Instant stardom came after, and the album topped the UK chart six days after its release. A year later, it achieved platinum certification. Their sophomore album "Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It" exceeded expectations when it was released in 2016. It was named by many publications as one of the best albums of 2016. "A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships" and "Notes on a Conditional Form," released in 2018 and 2020, respectively, continued their massive success.
Since last year, the band has been teasing their upcoming album "Being Funny in a Foreign Language," which is set for release on October 14. In support of the album, they will be on tour. The North America leg will begin this August. Fans close to Montville, Connecticut, prepare to hear their ever-evolving sound at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday, November 3.
