Paul Anka at Mohegan Sun Arena

Beginning his music career aged only 14, Canadian singer, songwriter and occasional actor Paul Anka first gained recognition with his debut single "I Confess" (1956). Two years later Anka released the single "Diana", which rocketed to the top of the charts in both Canada and the US, and later became one of best-selling singles ever by a Canadian recording artist. By the end of 1958, Anka had released four Top 20 singles and had become one of the era's biggest teen idols. Anka's widespread success continued throughout the 1960s and '70s, both as a writer, with songs like the theme for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, "She's a Lady" (Tom Jones) and "My Way" (Frank Sinatra), and as an artist in his own right, with songs like "Lonely Boy", “(You’re) Having My Baby”, “One Man Woman/One Woman Man” , “I Don’t Like to Sleep Alone” and  “(I Believe) There’s Nothing Stronger Than Our Love”. In 2004, Anka had an unexpected hit with Rock Swings, a big-band covers album on which he covered such diverse artists as Nirvana, Michael Jackson (for whom he had written the 2009 posthumous hit “This Is It”) and Spandau Ballet.
