Renowned singer, guitarist and former Creedence Clearwater Revival front man John Fogerty relives his heyday on his highly celebrated, and now extended, 1969 Tour! The celebrated rock star comes to Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday 25th June for a night of top quality, nostalgic music!
Finding fame in the late 1960s/early 1970s as the lead singer and lead guitarist for roots rock/swamp rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Fogerty has been listed on Rolling Stone magazine's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists (at number 40) and the list of 100 Greatest Singers (at number 72). CCR released their debut self-titled album and also had their first hit single, "Susie Q" in 1968, with their peak success happening in 1969 when they released three top 10 hits and, ultimately, multi-platinum albums — Bayou County, Green River and Willy and the Poor Boys. With these releases they scored four top five hit singles, including “Proud Mary” and “Bad Moon Rising”. It was during this time that the band played Woodstock Festival and even outsold the Beatles. Having subsequently refused to play any CCR songs since the band's dissolution in 1972, due to disputes with fellow band members and the success of his solo career, Fogerty made the decision to perform his old Creedence material regularly in concert after an inspirational visit to the grave site of blues legend Robert Johnson in 1990.
Now on his extended 1969 Tour, Fogerty revisits his successes of that era, saying:
"I am at a wonderful place in my life. I am playing the music that I love and wrote…No lawyers, lawsuits, or angry ex-band members will stop me ever again from singing my songs. I am going to continue to tour and play all my songs every single night I am out on the road."
