The team Connecticut Sun is based in Uncasville, Connecticut, and is owned by the Mohegan Indian Tribe. The Sun takes pride that they are the only team (apart from the defunct Miami Sol) to have less than 20 losses in a season. The Sun has had notable set of distinguished players –the late 7-foot-2 Margo Dydek, Indiana native Katie Douglas, veteran sharpshooter Kara Lawson, University of Connecticut icons Asjha Jones and Nykesha Sales, 2008 MVP runner-up point guard Lindsay Whalen and 2012 MVP recipient Tina Charles.
Before the 2000 WNBA season began, the team Indiana Fever was founded by Herb Simons to be the playing team for Indianapolis, Indiana in the Eastern Conference in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). In its eleven years of existence, it has qualified seven times for the WNBA Playoffs. The team has honed and produced standout players such as Tamika Catchings, hometown favorite Katie Douglas, and Australian defensive specialist Tully Bevilaqua.
