As one of the household names in the country music scene today, Chris Young is one of those stars who started his career in a reality show contest. In 2006, he won Season 4 of "Nashville Star," which catapulted him to country music stardom. He was signed to RCA Records Nashville after he won the competition and dropped his self-titled debut album later that year. The album gave fans two hit singles, "Drinkin' Me Lonely" and "You're Gonna Love Me," both of which charted on Hot Country Songs. The success of his debut album foreshadowed the thriving career the Tennessee native would enjoy in the following years.

His songs continued to gain popularity with each new album he released. Starting with "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)" off of his second album, "The Man I Want to Be," and ending with "Losing Sleep" off of his seventh album of the same name in 2018, he had a total of nine top-charting singles. His career was so successful that he was nominated for a Grammy and won multiple awards from the Academy of Country Music. And then, in 2017, he received one of country music's ultimate distinctions when he was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.

In 2021, he released his latest album, "Famous Friends," which is regarded by most critics as a refreshing set of songs from the country singer who made "a course correction, adding some livelier, stylish elements to his smooth foundation." The 14-track album is certified gold by the RIAA in the United States and peaked at # 2 and # 3 on the UK Country Albums and US Top Country Albums (Billboard) Charts, respectively. The album contained several hits, including the title track "Famous Friends," "Raised on Country," "Drowning," and "At the End of a Bar," featuring Mitchell Tenpenny.
