He's got the world hooked when he dropped his trap-inspired single "This Is America". Now, CHILDISH GAMBINO is switching things up. In 2020, he released his fourth studio LP "3.15.20", featuring its hit singles "Time" featuring Ariana Grande, "12.38" featuring 21 Savage, Ink and Kadhja Bonet, and "Sweet Thang (24.19)". Promising new music in the works, the man dropped his newest record to everyone's surprise - "Atavista", a reimagined version of the 2020 "3.15.20" album. Following its release last May 13th, the man is embarking on his newest headline trek - THE NEW WORLD TOUR. With over 30 stops in North America, WILLOW will be the man's special guest for every single night.
Childish Gambino's latest release, a reissue of his fourth studio LP, gives fans a glimpse of what the original album was supposed to be. The album which features collaborative tracks with the likes of Ariana Grande and Summer Walker includes two new songs - "Atavista" and "Human Sacrifice". It's also important to note that the album features most of the original tracks, none of which can be found on streaming services actually. Some songs were given new names - "Psilocybae" which was formerly "12.38" and "Little Foot Big Foot" which was then labeled as "35.31".
Back in 2020, the album's release was kind of a surprise that people didn't really see coming. It arrived amidst the very beginning of a global pandemic, and people didn't really notice while fearing everyone's health. In a conversation through his Gilga IG platform, Childish Gambino shared that the 2020 version of the album was released unfinished because he wanted it to exist should the world end. Posting it on a website without song titles, and removing it a couple hours later, it was sort of a hidden gem.
"The project I put out, ‘3.15.20’ that no one’s ever heard of, people didn’t even know I put it out, it was originally titled ‘Atavista,’ it was supposed to be ‘Atavista," he shared. "But we put it out quickly, I didn’t master or mix it, I just kind of put it out. I was going through a lot, n—s thought everybody was going to die because it was the pandemic. We put it out, we finished it, it’s ‘Atavista,’ we’re putting that out."
Moving on, the artist is currently closing an era, looking forward to start anew. Last month, the man teased 2 tracks featuring Kid Cudi and Kanye West on his Gilga platform. It's likely that these tracks will be on his upcoming album, the last under Donald Glover's "Childish Gambino" moniker. "We’re releasing Atavista, but after that, there’s the final Childish Gambino album — a soundtrack for the fans," he said.
Don't miss out on the final CHILDISH GAMBINO era as Glover soon kicks off a new chapter of his music. Mark your spots at THE NEW WORLD TOUR by booking your tickets now!
