Rob Thomas started his musical career in 1993 in the band Tabitha's Secret, with three of the five band members (including himself) breaking off in 1995 to form the pop rock group Matchbox Twenty. Matchbox Twenty found international fame with their debut album, Yourself or Someone Like You, which was certified diamond (12× Platinum) in the United States and multi-platinum in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Before recording Matchbox Twenty's second album, Thomas was featured on "Smooth" for Carlos Santana's comeback album, Supernatural. “Smooth” became an international smash hit, winning him three Grammy Awards for writing and performing on the record: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Popular Music Collaboration with Vocals. 2000 saw Matchbox Twenty release Mad Season, their second album, which charted in the top three on the Billboard 200 and was certified 4× platinum in the United States. …Something to Be, Thomas' debut solo album, was released during a hiatus for Matchbox Twenty, and went straight to number one on the Billboard 200 chart. It was followed by Cradlesong, his second solo effort, in 2009. The album's first single "Her Diamonds" was a success around the world, while reaching number three in Australia and topping the Billboard Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks chart. The Great Unkown, Thomas third album, is slated for release in 2015.
