Journey at Mohegan Sun Arena

Formed in 1973 from former members of Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch, and originally known as the Golden Gate Rhythm Section, San Francisco rock band Journey are now one of the world's best-selling bands of all time, with nearly 90 million records sold worldwide. Originally a jazz fusion band, Journey changed their name and musical direction shortly after signing with Columbia Records in 1974. After employing a new lead singer and producer, the group's breakthrough came in 1978 with the release of their fourth studio album, Infinity, which brought them their first hit song, "Wheel in the Sky". Their new pop-rock sound lead to significant mainstream success, and the band released seven consecutive multi-platinum albums through 1978-1987, launching several hit singles, including 1981's "Don't Stop Believin'". In 2005, the single gained popularity once again and reached No. 3 on iTunes downloads, and in 2009 it became the top-selling track in iTunes history amongst songs not released in the 21st century. Their 2008 tour made Journey one of the top-grossing concert tours of the year, bringing in over $35,000,000. In 2011, the group released its most recent album,  Eclipse, which debuted at number 13 on the Billboard 200 chart.
